About Basecamp Research:

Founded in 2019, Basecamp Research discovers and optimises novel proteins for gene, genome and epigenome editing using its ability to understand real-world relationships between these proteins and their evolutionary context.

With a team spanning Antarctic ice divers to machine learning graph scientists, Basecamp Research is building the largest, most sophisticated, entirely ethically sampled graph database of natural biodiversity – a knowledge graph of life on earth, from over 18 countries and 50% of global biomes. This core asset enables both discoveries of novel proteins and other genomic elements, and increased performance of protein AI approaches, which together enable Basecamp Research to rapidly develop foundational products in partnership with some of the largest global companies and industry leaders.

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Commercial Lead to build and manage our genome editing therapeutics commercial team and construct meaningful therapeutic development partnerships. Within this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and executing on new commercial partnerships in key strategic areas in the genome editing field. In this role, you will have the opportunity to have an outsized impact on the trajectory of the company as we rapidly push towards our bold Series B milestones.

While we have a very strong in-person culture at Basecamp Research, we feel it is more important that the commercial team are able to interact seamlessly with potential partners and so this position can be located globally, with the ability to travel to our London HQ periodically.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven track record of successful deal sourcing, relationship building, and deal negotiation & execution in the Life Sciences sector (preferably within the cell and gene therapy field)

  • Experience with constructing and executing on complex therapeutic licensing agreements 
  • A technical life sciences background (minimally at undergraduate level)
  • A good personal network within the biopharma sector
  • Good financial modelling skills in evaluating and negotiating deal terms
