We're looking for an experienced and hands-on Marketing Lead to craft and expand Basecamp Research's global presence.

Every day at Basecamp Research, we make scientific, policy and commercial breakthroughs that surprise and delight our partners. From designing novel proteins to implementing international treaties, our team thrives on making tangible and rapid progress for the world around us.

Having spent the last three years building solid technical and operational foundations for global scale, we're now ready to bring on our first marketing and communications hire to craft and expand Basecamp Research's presence on the global stage.

This Lead level role offers you autonomy and unlimited opportunity. We're looking for someone who can combine clarity of vision with impeccable execution, whether it's as an individual contributor or in collaboration with a wider team.

Your primary challenge will be to translate the intricacies of our multidisciplinary work into memorable, impactful stories that resonate with our broad range of target audiences.

What you'll do

  • Build inbound interest from external partners: you'll have free rein to create and experiment with content and experiences that best communicate what Basecamp Research has to offer
  • Craft our global media presence: you'll curate the most appropriate channels, journalists and influencers to distribute and reinforce our most important stories
  • Place our team in the right communities: you'll always be on the lookout for conferences and meet-ups, niche or broad, where our team can be in the spotlight, but also encounter liked-minded pioneers
  • Track and iterate on our performance: you'll become our team's best role model for the maxim "you can't improve what you don't measure"

Your experience

We believe the best communicators draw on a wide base of professional and personal experiences. As such, we don't have an ideal CV in mind for this role.

For example, have you spent extended time in:
  • A B2B customer-facing role in biotech that's honed your instincts for winning over busy R&D leaders

  • A storytelling or marketing role that's pushed your written and verbal communication to the limits

  • A product role that's developed your uncanny ability to crystallise complex technical concepts to any stakeholder

  • A biodiversity or life sciences policy role that's taught you how to build mutual trust no matter who's at the table

  • Any combination of the above or otherwise?

We want to hear how you've built programmes from scratch, or revitalised an aging strategy, or caught wind of an emerging trend and rapidly adjusted your direction.
